The Waste :
Industrial printed plastic packaging waste.
Why recycle it ?
Packaging waste today comprises of a very large percentage of the total plastic waste generated, as practically every consumer product is being packaged with printed plastic. This results in a number of well known hazards to the environment.
Process :
Waste is collected through a network of rag pickers, duly fumigated and is then sorted by colors.
It is then processed by hand and sent to the handloom weavers who weave the waste into a beautiful fabric using the traditional handlooms. The recycled fabric is then stitched into trendy products ranging from bags to stationary to household goods by economically disadvantaged women artisans.
Advantage Revive by recycling:
Gives a strikingly beautiful, new, unique texture and look to what would have been written off as waste.
Great potential for all around mass scale expansion.
Provides sustainable employment to handloom weavers and self employed women working from home.
Possibility of training visually impaired individuals Completely eco friendly process !
